Who asked for the Uncharted card game for the PS Vita?

I don’t understand the line of thinking behind this Uncharted Fight for Fortune “expansion”:

I don’t understand why Sony would dilute their brand with nonsense like this; it immediately gives off the wrong impression. Who produced the venn diagram that showed that the Uncharted and card game audiences overlapped?

It could be a mechanically sound card game but using the Uncharted license is too incongruent for my liking. Also I would need to get a copy of Uncharted: Golden Abyss which I don’t plan on owning anytime soon.

Checkpoint: End of Summer 2012 Vacation Edition

I chose a pretty good week to not be at work. It freed up a lot of time to witness some amazing feats live but also to sit around and wait for phone calls.

XXX Olympiad

I spent the last week or so watching a bunch of Olympics coverage. Not much during primetime but live. Watching Usain Bolt & the Jamaicans win the 100m, 200m and 4 x 400m live were my personal highlights.

Mars Science Laboratory’s Curiosity Landing

All we were able to witness were the reactions of the experts over at command center but their elation was more than enough realize what feat this was for mankind. Landing the car-sized was immensely complex but it was successful. In fact, the Mars Curiosity has already produced some amazing high resolution color photos.

I can’t wait to see what else the rover sends back.

Not So Amazing

Not so amazing this week were my brushes with customer service representatives. They’re quick to serve and sell you things but slow to react when it comes to post-sale customer support.

I was hoping to wrap up any customer support related affairs during my week off but none of it panned out. Furniture stores and home builders are such clods.

With Nier done, I’ve gone back to Uncharted 3 to wrap up some trophies. I should have a Nier review by Wednesday but it’s a weird game to review because it’s all over the place.

A Couple of GOTY Contenders Get Patches

naughty-dog-logoOk. I don’t know if The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be on my GOTY list because I haven’t played it yet, but nevertheless, it has a patch along with Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception which will be in my top 10 of the year.

First up? Uncharted 3′s patch notes. It’s quite lengthy and much of it pertains to the multiplayer:

Checkpoint: Holiday Gaming 2011 Complete?

checkpoint-holiday-gaming-2011-complete

I just wrapped up Modern Warfare 3′s campaign which leaves me with just two more “Holiday 2011″ games to “finish”: Dark Souls and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

I’ve been playing Battlefield 3′s multiplayer, Modern Warfare 3′s Spec Ops and pondering revisiting Uncharted 3 after the supposed aiming fix drops.

So far there hasn’t been an outright dud which I’ve stopped playing like last year’s Fallout: New Vegas. Hopefully Skyrim doesn’t become that, but I have a feeling that won’t be the case.

I’ve picked up Dark Souls again and my feelings towards that game haven’t changed a bit. Despite not finishing it yet, I may go ahead with a review.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Campaign Review

uncharted-3-logo

I didn’t want to wait until I finished the co-op or dabbled into the final version of the multiplayer because Uncharted is all about the solo experience. It’s what brought me to this franchise and its the reason why I stayed with it.

I found Naughty Dog’s latest opus to be their best work to date. Uncharted 2 may have brought them into the limelight for many, but it was an evolutionary step towards their interactive action movie vision. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is a culmination of all the technological advancements, gameplay ideas and lessons learned from the past five years.

Checkpoint: Drowning in Games Edition

Oh there are so many games out at the moment. I haven’t even bought them all because I have yet to complete any of the ones I’ve purchased already.

Let’s take a look at the progress of each:

Dark Souls

I’m level 51 at the moment and based on what I’ve seen from my brother’s game, I have a lot more dying to go through before I can put this one to rest.
