If I was an American and was a fan of streaming movies from the net, I would be somewhat upset over the fact that Sony’s Columbia Pictures is blocking its movies from being streamed through the New Xbox Experience’s NetFlix functionality.

Is Sony just being petty? Not completely. Apparently, it’s a valid licensing issue involving just the streaming of movies via the Xbox 360. NetFlix is working with Columbia Pictures in resolving this issue so it’s not worth posting rants over. Just sit back, relax and think about what your Avatar is going to wear tomorrow.

What a day it’s been. That Microsoft press conference was quite the bore up until the very end when “shit got real”. Anyways, for those who don’t have the time to scour the net for all the juicy footage and essential info, I did it all for you. Enjoy.

I didn’t miss this yesterday, but I did forget to comment on it. A couple of blows were dealt to the HD-DVD format yesterday when NetFlix decided that the future is indeed Blu. As for BestBuy, they’re not dropping HD DVD, but they are going to recommend and promote Blu-ray more heavily now.

None of this is surprising though.

Should we begin taking bets on when HD DVD throws in the towel?
