…or should it be called “Day One”? Who cares.
It’s actually tomorrow in Japan and thus some trailers were released along with Microsoft’s keynote which just wrapped up. Here’s what was revealed so far which will be updated as the (North American) day progresses.

I love my 2-D fighters and this King of Fighters XII is shaping to be the finest looking 2-D fighter ever. So pretty. Don’t you agree?
Yeah, you agree. Expect KOFXII on home consoles in spring 2009.
It looks great in motion and as evidenced by Famitsu’s latest screenshots: in stills as well. Arcade testing will be underway next month in Japan where fans will finally get to try out this 100% hand drawn 2-D fighter for themselves.
I just can’t wait for a console release.

SNK’s King of Fighters franchise was much of a mystery to me until about 2000 when I was messing around with M.U.G.E.N. and stumbled across these wickedly designed characters from SNK. I soon discovered that they were from the King of Fighters series and ever since, I have been keeping tabs on the franchise.
