LBP finally gets a firm release date, but it’s for Japan. It’s slated for October 30th, 2008 for 5980 Yen ($56.32 CAD) – I’m assuming it’ll debut in North America at $59.99 CAD. Seems a bit high, but then again we don’t haven’t seen enough of the game to make a valid call on it. We know the multiplayer and creation tools are robust, but the single player experience is still a mystery.
Still, I have my doubts about the sales for this game. It doesn’t have guns and it isn’t in first person. We all know almost anything with guns sell. Prove me wrong, world! Please!
What a day it’s been. That Microsoft press conference was quite the bore up until the very end when “shit got real”. Anyways, for those who don’t have the time to scour the net for all the juicy footage and essential info, I did it all for you. Enjoy.
Trust me, this list is a lot more exciting than having it slowly revealed to you.
Halo 3’s marketing campaign was a bit absurd, but when you sit it next to the likes of Metal Gear Solid 4’s I would consider it tame. Montain Dew has nothing on this. GameSpot dives into even greater detail.
iPods, Japanese models, T-shirts and other gimmicks were announced to celebrate this launch. As if MGS4 wasn’t a big deal enough, Konami is going out of their way to make it even bigger — especiallly in Japan. And remember that Assassin’s Solid video? Well, with the blessing of Ubisoft, Snake can strut around wearing Altair’s gear.
Check out the theatrical trailer. Hilarious if its a parody, but sad if its not. Knowing Kojima, it’s probably just fun and games.
P.S - I know about the first 10 minutes of Metal Gear Solid 4 video. I’m not touching that. It must be a surprise.
I’m jealous of the Japanese. Not just because of their lovely ladies, nice cars or other technological marvels, but also because they have Famitsu and its exclusives. This week’s Famitsu featured some footage for Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 5. Awesomeness confirmed. They took the RE4 formula and ran with it. Rumors are stating a 2009 release which doesn’t surprise me since Capcom have tasted the nectar of success with RE4 and probably wants to taste it again with RE5.
Anyways, check out the footage for some Japanese commentary and a glimpse of Chris Redfield’s huge arms.
Once again, our Japanese brethren were treated to something unique and different with their weekly PlayStation Store update. This week, Echochrome demos, for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, were released. After brief downloads for each (37 MB and 3.7 MB respectively), I was finding the way, making things truths and found myself enjoying the game quite a bit.
Famitsu’s website have a plethora of in-game screenshots of Street Fighter 4 for all to gawk at. The website is in Japanese, but don’t let that stop you! I have to say, the art style is growing on me. Guile looks bad ass.
You can also check out pictures of some lucky folks playing the game on an arcade cabinet as well. So very envious.
According to a job posting (poorly translated here) found on Sony Computer Entertainment Inc’s Japanese website, Sony is looking to fill, what appears to be, a “general PlayStation family emulation” engineering position. According to the job posting translation, Sony is working to improve and/or implement ”PS/PS2/PS3/PSP” emulation for the PS3 and “next-generation systems” (PS4?)
Everyone loves pie charts. Here’s an interesting video of the Japanese gaming marketshare of the past 11 years.
Japan sure loves that Nintendo DS. I never knew how little marketshare the DreamCast and how resilient the WonderSwan was. XBOX, where were you after year one?
Thanks to NeoGAF poster RurouniZel for sharing it!
