It’s Super Bowl Sunday 2010. This is the first NFL season which I’ve paid significant attention to, but it’s still superficial compared to the dedicated fans out there. Nevertheless, I do have a preference and want the Indianapolis Colts to achieve victory.
Update: Add Mafia II, Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne III to the list of delayed games for TakeTwo.
It seems like publishers and developers like to start the week off with disappointing news.
Such as game delays.
TakeTwo’s BioShock 2 was pushed to 2010 which starts November 2009, but don’t expect it this year. It’s definitely a 2010 title. And here’s why:
“.. it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve.”
Unlike BioShock 2, Sony’s Heavy Rain was delayed until 2010 for strategic purposes.
“Most publishers today realise that it’s not ideal to release a new IP or a new genre just before Christmas. It’s a very crowded place to be, and certain games need more space to live their life.”
The last piece of game delay news involves StarCraft II. Despite not having an official release date, analysts are expecting Blizzard’s real-time strategy game to be a 2010 title as well. I’m not surprised.
Bethesda tops off today’s delay news with a delay of Fallout 3 downloadable content for the PlayStation 3 which was pushed into September 2009.
Nine minutes of Bioshock 2. It’s from the Xbox 360 build and it’s familiar footage seen from the first reveal. However, this time there is a narrator behind it.
Enjoy!
I’m big fan of the underwater moments. Very much so. I’m hoping the bits of screen tearing will be a non-issue in the final build.
2K revealed a handful of BioShock 2 multiplayer details today. Digital Extremes, known for their work with the Unreal and Unreal Tournament franchise, will be working on the multiplayer component of BioShock 2. This is the same development house who helped port BioShock to the PlayStation 3 — so they’re not complete strangers to the franchise
BioShock 2’s multiplayer will employ character development through the use of an experience points system. I’m picturing Call of Duty 4’s multiplayer, but with Plasmids and Tonics. The press release also stated that players will “learn more about the fall of Rapture as they progress through the experience”. Since the multiplayer action will take place before the fall of Rapture, it is possible to catch a glimpse of what Rapture was like, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
BioShock 2 is coming late this year for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Not only did last night’s GameTrailers TV announce a two new maps for Killzone 2 (yawn). There was also a lengthy first look at some Bioshock 2 gameplay!
I thought it looked great. They’re giving that “Big Daddy” suit some justice and the look of everything is unmistakably Bioshock-y. Whether or not the game will live up to its predecessor in the “refreshing experience department” is still up in the air, but at least it looks like it has solid footing.
Stashed within the confines of the PlayStation 3 version of BioShock is the unlockable teaser for its sequel, BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams. Some fellow took a few photos of said teaser and here they are:
