PoP: Prodigy Impresses Me

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

The upcoming Prince of Persia: Prodigy was quite the eye opener when I first learned about it. Well those screens I posted were rather small, so I found some new and larger ones on Tiscali Games.

Enjoy

Videogame Voice Actors Underpaid?

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

$100 000 for 15 months of work. That’s what Michael Hollick, voice of Niko Bellic, made. That’s it. No more. Voice actors don’t receive residuals for games like they do for other entertainment mediums.

“For instance, our contracts say nothing about the use of voices for promotional purposes over the Internet,” Mr. Hollick said. “The first G.T.A. IV trailer generated something like 40 million hits online, and that’s my voice all over it, and I get nothing. If that were a radio spot, I would have. Same thing for the TV ads. I recorded those lines for the game, but now they’re all over television. It’s another gray area.”

Sucks for him, but on the bright side, he is known now. If all else fails, he could always rent himself like Roman did.

Every Mortal Kombat Fatility (So Far)

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

At first, I thought this video was going to be a great piece of video game history, but as it passed the 3 minute mark, I quickly realized the following:

  1. There have been too many Mortal Kombat games.
    and/or
  2. There have been too many Mortal Kombat characters.

Anyways, enjoy 7 minutes of slaughter.

Grand Theft Auto IV PS3 Review

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

After spending 40+ hours with Grand Theft Auto IV, I thought I experienced enough of it to really share my views on this monolith sized game. Like many folks out there, I adore the game. More so than the previous installments where I found much of the praise to be misplaced — they were good games, but for good the sum of their parts and not the finer details. Did GTAIV change all that? Mostly.

New iPhone, New Brand, New Beginnings

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

It looks like the iPhone 3G people have been wanting since day one of the iPhone’s launch is finally launching next month. Well that is if these rumors are to be believed. I’d love to get an iPhone, but the lack of unlimited data rate plans for cheap scare me away.

Hopefully, AMD’s Game! initiative will be more successful than their Live! one. If widly adopted, this initiative will help mainstream gamers pick out games and compatible PCs with relative ease. Just match the logos and you’re good to go. If only it included Intel and NVIDIA components…

Next, it appears that Xbox 360 exclusive, Splinter Cell: Conviction is starting over. Can’t say I cared much for the original concept so this news is welcomed.

Finally, Chair Entertainment, developer of Undertow, is receiving a new beginning under the wing of Epic Games. Hopefully, they’ll continue with creating XBLA games.

I almost forgot when Alone in the Dark was coming out. Did you know the Xbox 360 version was coming out on June 24th? I didn’t. Well now we both know.

The tech demos were very impressive, but have you seen some the screens? Here’s mish mash of art and in-game shots from the Xbox 360 build.
