Hilarious videos of Team Roomba and their crafty griefing. You will “lulz”. Teleporting folks to the dirty picture is classic.

Independent developers have it tough when it comes to publicity for their games. They lack the budget, the contacts and sometimes the “know how” to actually promote their game. So to have an independent game featured on something like the 1UP Show means it must be worth checking out, right? Definitely. Aquaria is PC game developed by a two-man development team who call themselves Bit-Blot. I took their demo of Aquaria for a test drive and I thought it would be fitting to give their game a bit of publicity and share my thoughts about it.

I have posted about them before, and mentioned them several times throughout my various postings on this site and on my personal blog. Of course, I am speaking about remixes and user created musical compositions. Be it OC Remix or other works such as G.A.M.E., I always give them a listen.
G.A.M.E. (Gaming Age Musica Electronia) is a remix project which comes from the NeoGAF forum and its talented members. It is primarily comprised of electronic mixes “ranging from chiptunes to IDM to trance to experimental and everything in between” and all of it was inspired by videogames. Truly awesome stuff for fans of the genre. I have not given the entire playlist a listen through yet, but from what I have heard so far, it is superb. My personal favourite so far? M0dus - One Life Left. (Set it on repeat a few times already.)
If you have any remote interest in this type of music, I highly recommend giving G.A.M.E. a try. Download links and the playlist are as follows:
With Christmas holiday around the corner things for the site and the industry in general may slow down a bit. Fortunately, that leaves me with a lot of gaming time.
I am trying to go through Unreal Tournament III for the PS3’s single player, but I find it hard to sit down and actually go through it. I will detail the reason why later in my review which should appear sometime next week. (Thursday at the earliest) On the side, I continue to trudge through Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for PSP. The game is asking a lot out of me. On the Nintendo DS, I finally got my hands on Picross DS. I am not going to try explaining what Picross is or how it works, because this website can do a better job of explaining it. It is a real gem and I must thank GAF for constantly bringing it up.
As per usual I watched this week’s 1UP Show which featured Aquaria, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and No More Heroes. The GT5:P discussion was lame to say the least. They should have had Garnett Lee involved for that segment. I actually tried Aquaria and I will take the time to do a small write up of my impressions later. If you are curious, download the demo for yourselves.
This past week’s worth of 1UP podcasts were pretty solid as well. Notable ones were:
OCRemix posted two Marathon remixes today as well. The Forerunner Mix Alpha and Beta. I enjoy Beta more, but both are worth a listen.
So aside from UT3, the occassional COD4, the handheld distractions and writing up stuff from the site, I will be spending time scouring for Boxing Day deals. I will also continue post my notable deals on this post here. If you “gangstas” find any steals post a comment.
What about everyone else?
Games like Patapon intrigue me since they stray so far from the norm. Sure it looks like a crossbreed between Loco Roco’s art style and Parappa the Rapper’s gameplay, but I am all for it. Check out the quirkiness in the trailer below:
The one stop place for all things Boxing Day is RedFlagDeals. This site is seriously awesome and a treasure trove of money saving deals. So instead of regurgitating what they have posted, I am going to highlight some items of interest. Keep this page bookmarked!
Back in late August of this year, the keen eyes of an AVS forum member noticed that there was something offabout the Blu-ray version of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. The framing issue was investigated by Disney and they are finally offering a disc replacement program.
You can get the ball rolling via one of the following options:
If you played Rainbow 6: Vegas and enjoyed the single or online multiplayer, you must have been excited when Ubisoft Montreal announced that they were doing a sequel to the success hit. Jean-Pascal Cambiotti, the Lead Game Designer for Rainbow 6: Vegas 2, gave an interview to IGN and gave the first details, screens and teaser of the next installment in the Rainbow 6 series. (more…)
With the first day of winter a few days away (December 22nd), I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to pick out my top 10 video games which reminded me of the cold season. The rules of eligibility were simple enough:
Without further delay here is the list I came up with:
