R.I.P. Xbox360
So my Xbox360 decided it was time to let go and died yesterday. It decided it didn’t like to play games anymore and freeze when I do. On the good side, it happened just a few days before the 1 year warranty expires. It expires on Boxing Day (December 26th). I learned last night, after calling Microsoft, that the 3 year warranty that they advertised a few months ago, only covers the famous Red Rings of Death. I am filing a replacement with Microsoft. Unfortunately, this means that I will be out of my Xbox360 for the next few weeks and I will be missing my “oh-so” anticipated gaming week during the holidays. I had a few games on the shelf waiting for this period to come so I guess that Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect are going to have to wait.
I will then be able to evaluate Microsoft’s customer support for the Xbox360 and write something down later on it. (Depending how everything goes!) For now, the customer service rep I talk to was pretty good and polite. (I know that it’s his job to be, but I had bad experiences with other places!) We tried multiple things but nothing got my Xbox360 working fine again!
Stay tuned…

Update: My Xbox360 has now been shipped to Microsoft. I’m kinda surprised at the turnaround time at the moment. It took only 2 days for the “coffin” to arrive….
