Frontlines: Fuel of War Xbox360 demo Impressions

I must be honest and say that I was looking forward to this game. After playing a lot of Call of Duty 4 lately, I was looking for a Battlefield type game where you could use vehicles as well. It’s easy to see that when I loaded up this demo, I was full of hopes and anticipations.
If you are looking for my quick and short impressions on it, I was disappointed.
The demo is pretty short. You play through what looks like one mission, but it lasted around 10 minutes. The mission itself, capture strategic points on the frontline the battle. It works in a similar way that the Battlefield series introduced; you step in the capture point zone and wait for the progress bar to be done. You have variant objectives during the demo where you have to destroy certain objectives and some of them can be moving. (i.e. Tanks) This looks like fun but the game doesn’t push the hype of completing these objectives. It feels more like you have to complete them just to move on to something else. It made me remember some racing games with checkpoints where there are no more objectives than to get to the next one. There’s not much more to say about the actual gameplay of the game.Graphically, it was a mess. I was expecting smooth and good looking graphics like CoD4, since it raised the bar, but I was really disappointed. The framerate is definitely not steady where it dropped when only 3-4 enemies were firing at you. The graphics weren’t sharp like other games that just came out. Honestly, this game wasn’t looking like a next-generation game.
The controls were not really intuitive at the same time. I don’t know if it’s because it’s one of the first guns in the game, but the gun you start with had no accuracy to it. You had to shoot around 5 bullets before one bullet actually hits the target. Speaking of the targets, the enemy A.I. was really dumb. They never left their innate cover until you killed them. They were just standing there and saying: “Shoot me!”. I don’t know if it’s because it was the demo, but this part of the game is what needs the most improvement before it comes out.
My final verdict on this demo: Do not try! I don’t know if this will change when the game comes out, but I am pretty sure that what I experienced from the game is the only thing I will experience.
